More Mortgage Education
November 13, 2007
The National Foundation for Credit Counseling, along with Countrywide Financial Inc, is offering consumer education sessions online. The initiative is known as Home Ownership Mortgage Education (HOME) and can be found at:
www.HomeByCountrywide.com (English version) or at www.MiHogarCountrywide.com (Spanish version).
This program, which was originally launched in the early part of 2007, helps consumers improve their knowledge on important financial issues such as home buying, credit issues, and basic topics in finance. The program is free.
Susan Keating who is the president and Chief Executive Officer for the NFCC recently said: “We are pleased that the HOME program includes elements from our ‘Keys to Homeownership’ educational workbook’. The HOME website should prove to be a very valuable resource to home buyers and homeowners.”
The program uses an interactive learning module that includes easy-to-understand topics on basic finance, how credit affects you, preparing for home ownership, steps for buying a home, and life as a homeowner. There is an online glossary that can help consumers understand the various terms that are often associated with credit and homeownership.
The web site also offers many other useful resources, including brochures that can be downloaded, helpful worksheets and even important checklists. There are also links to additional resources and places that offer additional consumer education materials
